It was thanks largely to the work of your charity that I was able to get a diagnosis for a family member after about 2 years rather than the average of 20 (!) years mentioned in this research. Thanks for pioneering the connections and always sharing the research that backs it up.

Thanks it sounds like not severe enough but worth mentioning and keeping an eye on.

It is so hard. My husband commented that “one person can’t have this many things wrong”. We seem to be always at the doctor. I will check about the possible gastroparesis next time thank you.

Then you start to wonder if it is deliberate?

I guess it is to do with connective tissue. I think my daughter may possibly have it or similar.

Yes sometimes I agree that people are new to the topic and trying their best to understand and support. Other times it is accidental as we can easily repeat mistakes we hear. I find it disappointing though when educators don’t understand that an individual can’t be diverse (plural).

False! 9/9 Beington and tons of issues but no dislocations here.

What an absolutely brilliant conference- thank you! It filled me with hope to see such a multidisciplinary approach - educators, researchers, doctors, physios, psychiatrists and patients all working together.

I can’t read the article without subscription but it would be helpful to look at the work of @sedsconnective.org especially Chair and former headteacher/autism lead to understand the often overlooked links between physical health/attendance issues and neurodivergence.

Please screen for commonly co-occurring conditions as each one is often a struggle to be believed and it is exhausting to go around multiple specialists.

I think so

Lack of empathy maybe? Peoole don’t find it easy to believe we feel things differently eg something that hurts for one but not another. Sometimes prejudice making people discount what we say.

For me, these new findings are exceptionally useful for suggesting we should stop universal MH interventions in schools, and focus on one-to-one, targeted and directed interventions instead. @jackandrews.bsky.social and I argue this is more detail below
