Ja, ich bin gegen Krieg, Hass, Gewalt, Diktatur, Verschleppung, Plünderungen.

Machtergreifung einzelner führt immer zu Gewalt. Die Geschichte ist voll davon.

Das hat nichts mit Politik zu tun. Es ist meine Einstellung zum Leben.

Last week I visited Duddo Five Stones, aka the Singing Stones, for the first time - wow! Beautiful weathered megaliths crowning the hill, with Northumberland spreading far and wide, and the Cheviots on the horizon. The stones even whistled for us! Very nice indeed #StandingStoneSunday

Happy Winter Solstice!

On midwinter’s day, the sun sets between the pair of stones that form the largest trilithon at #Stonehenge

Farewell to the shortest day of the year, as we look forward to lighter days ahead! ☀️

Starling murmuration at 4pm at RSPB Minsmere yisty. The dome of Sizewell power station can be seen in the background. Suddenly they all stop flying and drop down into the reed beds. Magical nature.

People have been marking winter solstice for a very long time. Some 7,000 years ago, the people who built Goseck in Germany aligned the site's entrances to face sunrise and sunset at this darkest time of year. An ancient honouring of the return of the light. (Pic © LDA Sachsen-Anhalt, Gert Pie)

Come and enlighten those who dwell in darkness
And in the shadow of death'

Astronomical #winter starts today. It's the shortest day of the year in terms of daylight with the sun starting to set later each day until Summer Solstice.

'Beach Fishing.' (c1950) Edward Seago's painting of England's east coast has an undeniable sense of calm; that large amount of open space draws our gaze towards the fishermen and to the sea beyond.
