This needs more attention: Zohran SPLIT the straights with Cuomo. ALL of his margin was from LGBTQ+ voters. Every Dem who ever said “we should abandon the transes” needs this shoved down their fucking throat with a ramrod.

We are fond of saying in @uwmadisonmath.bsky.social that “Learning support is for everyone!” We hire advanced undergrads to tutor as course assistants for most major-level courses, and many of our course assistants for the early tier of major courses get help from CAs for the more advanced courses!
Yes you're allowed to get a tutor for classes in your major

Alabama tortured a man to death tonight. The “pro-life” Catholic majority on SCOTUS let a state murder a man by suffocation tonight.

The death penalty is deeply immoral, no matter how it is administered. AL knew this would be torture & reporting suggests it was worse than J. Sotomayor described.
Because everyone should be able to read this, here it is again with alt text. SCOTUS is a disgraceful institution.

In July, I planned to spend this weekend in Chicago because I wanted to attend Open House Chicago and see Sarah Millican. I booked a tower room at Pendry Chicago in the iconic Carbide and Carbon Building.

It was lovely weekend, and I’m glad that I was able to manage my Charlottesville 2017 PTSD

Our flock is growing, thank you to everyone who has gifted to us so far! There is still plenty of time left to give a gift to the math department and get your flamingo; the link to give is in our bio!

Gotta say that Madison’s flag looks pretty cool and the professional vexillologists agree!

(This version is only 7 years old, but it’s a light modification of a 1960s original design.)

🤦‍♂️ Guess I’ve got a new example for when I teach graph theory in my combinatorics class this fall, @magnacartergt.bsky.social
It's mathematically impossible for a 17-team ACC to each play 9 league games, so how would the ACC do it? “We have the highest rated academic schools of any Power Four conference,” an ACC AD told @on3sports.bsky.social. “We’ll figure it out.”

The death penalty is immoral in all circumstances. That republicans seem to have turned executions into a fetish is something I am at a loss for words to describe.
You guys are not going to believe this

But depending on your perspective, don't worry or I'm sorry: I'll be back by the end of the month.

See you soon, NYC.

Like the author, I’m an adoptee via a closed adoption. ND is one of the states with restrictive laws on access to original birth certificates. I do know the almost certain identity of my biomom (and she knows my name), but that was against my will and truly by accident and coincidence for her.
I’m adopted.

So I wrote about how an attempt to dismantle birthright citizenship could affect adoptees. It’s also about family, community, and what it means to belong.

Adoption, Belonging, and the Question of Citizenship
Adoptees are proof of the cruelty and carelessness at the heart of Trump’s assault on birthright citizenship.

I literally stand in front of my university math students every semester now and point out to them that I probably know four proofs of the thing I have asked them to prove, so getting dozens or hundreds of copies of those proofs from them is not for my benefit.
I gotta say I find a lot of AI discourse around higher ed very confusing. "if ChatGPT can write your essays is college even worth it?" did people think math teachers were assigning problem sets because *they* couldn't figure out the answers?
