Congratulations to UW professors Daniel Ludois and Guri Sohi, who have been named fellows of the National Academy of Inventors!

The academy recognized Ludois for his development of new types of electrostatic motors and power converters and Sohi for his work on computer microprocessors.

Viruses in wetland soil play a more important role than previously understood and could even be indicators of ecosystem health, according to a new study by UW–Madison researchers.
Viruses found in carbon-storing wetlands play an active role in shaping ecosystem health
The viruses could also help determine if a wetland has been damaged or if restoration efforts are working.

Today, UW Board of Regents approved a proposal to reorganize the School of Computer, Data and Information Science into a standalone college, a critical step toward creating a College of Computing and Artificial Intelligence. This begins several months of engagement with stakeholders across campus.
