Midland, Michigan: Cyclists are legally allowed to ride on sidewalks and roadways (MCL 257.660c). At crosswalks, drivers are legally required to yield to cyclists, regardless of direction of travel! Failure to yield is illegal under MCL 257.612(1)(c)(ii).

Just wanted to point something out: american suburbs + car culture quietly isolate us. You don’t see your neighbors, you don’t share space—you drive alone, live alone, struggle alone. It keeps us in our class bubbles. That’s by design. Capitalism prefers us divided and quiet.

I look at cities like Kraków where any plan to curb car use is taken as an attack on personal freedoms. Congestion pricing would infuriate to the verge of revolution and simultaneously solve all their funding and traffic problems. Therefore it will unfortunately never happen.
I’m not pro-car in the slightest, but has any city with crappy transit done congestion pricing to *fund* transit improvements? That suggestion is WILD to me.

The only time I find myself exceeding 25kph is rolling downhill, otherwise there's really no need for those kinds of speeds in a congested area. We rightly want to limit cars to 30kph in cities. Road bikes out in the countryside? Open it up! ⏩⏩⏩
