Trip to Dresden, our rides for the day. Max daily fee 18€ or 2€ per half-hour. The city is full of cyclists, cargobikes, and car usage keeps falling year on year thanks to ongoing efforts to make this amazing city even more livable.

Cars have only been the dominant users of roads for about 4.5% of the time that roads wide enough for them have existed! For over 95% of that time, roads were built for people, carts, and animals - not cars. www.worldhistory.org/article/758/...

Despite progress, bike infrastructure still lags. In Kraków Swoszowice, this Wilga crossing is ice or mud on either side making it impractical unless frozen solid or dry. Daily use is ruled out for half the year, and alternative routes are few and far between, unless you want to choke on car fumes.

There actually is some great cycling infrastructure in this city, such as this raised lane on Warszawska, but today's Kraków bike lane hero award definitely goes to this delivery van... 🤦🏼♂️

This is thankfully quite common in Poland. The do not enter, one way, and other restriction signs are often appended with this sign, meaning, "does not apply to bicycles."
