The flags were lowered last night around the base by order of President Trump after the killing of Charlie Kirk and will stay at half-staff on this U.S. outpost in southeast Cuba until sunset on Sunday.

If you flood the streets of a city with heavily-armed masked paramilitary (1) they will commit crimes (2) they will not stop crimes (3) but overall crime may go down because people are too scared of heavily-armed masked paramilitary to leave their houses.

The world may be on fire but at least we’re witnessing a new female popular music renaissance: the Chappell Roan and SZA albums were perfect. Doechii is brilliant. No more mumblecore minimalism, the girls are back to belting and camp. Lady Gaga had her best album in a decade!!

I think a lot of the dunks on yesterday’s no-buy thing were shortsighted. 99% of the country is not going to jump right into a general strike or other extreme protest. you need to ease them into these ideas by reminding them we actually have power. doesn’t happen overnight, gotta start somewhere
