When recommending a book to a child, 'Here's a book I read, loved and think you'll enjoy' carries more weight than 'Here's a book from a list that someone else says is good'. Lists can be a real help and a great starting point but knowing (at least some of) the books is crucial.

Spent today in school setting up my classroom and my friend's room with some tasty Greek food for lunch in the middle. Not a bad way to work!

Last night of a week away with my mum and sister. We've visited lots of lovely places, seen lots of wildlife and I've read lots of books so I'd call that a successful week!

I'm off on a school visit tomorrow morning to look at how reading and early writing is taught in another setting. Looking forward to it - it is always good to see how others do things.

Rounding off half-term with a weekend trip to visit my sister in Scotland. Great day today and plans to go for a coastal walk in the morning before the drive home.
