conventional economics is built on a dangerous fantasy that the economy exists outside the living world. it treats nature as an infinite resource and an endless waste dump, assuming growth can continue forever on a finite planet. forests become timber, rivers become inputs, animals become units, and the climate becomes an externality to be priced later. planetary boundaries, the biophysical limits that keep earth stable and habitable, barely register in this model. instead of asking what the planet can safely sustain, economics asks how fast we can extract, consume and expand. the result is an economy that rewards destruction, calls it efficiency, and ignores the ecological feedbacks that now define our century. as we crash through climate, biodiversity, water and soil limits, the failure is clear. an economic system that cannot see limits cannot protect life, and cannot guide us toward a future worth living in.

Report finds children at Mossbourne Victoria Park traumatised by disciplinary measures ‘designed to humiliate’ Staff at a London academy instilled a “climate of fear” among pupils, with a drive for academic success likely to have harmed vulnerable children including those with special needs, according to a damning independent investigation.
