Meet Shakira. Ten years ago, she was living in a shelter with her three kids, working at a non-union hotel.

Now she's a member of HTC.

Unions are how working people can build a dignified life. But in a city as expensive as ours, they need local government on their side.

A Muslim candidate for mayor of the nation's largest city, defending the rights of a Jewish candidate for mayor, who was arrested for defending the rights of immigrants not to face detention without warrants.

This is the kind of solidarity Trump and his goons fear.
Assemblymember Zohran Mamdani is now here calling for the release of Lander (his fellow mayoral candidate)

Back in 1930s, one key to labor success was local govts and governors often refusing to send police in to break pickets.

That Mayor Adams using cops to break pickets should mean every local labor leader should be calling for his resignation immediately (aside from his criminal corruption)
On the scene of the Amazon strike in Maspeth, the NYPD is trying to break the picket, engaging in arrests of union members and engaging in physical confrontations with workers and their supporters.

Would like a statement from NYC mayoral candidates that they won’t let NYPD break picket lines. Workers have a right to picket!
At the scene of the Amazon strike:

The NYPD has now erected barricades to allow Amazon contractors to enter and leave the distribution center, helping Amazon break the picket line.

Hardly an original thought, but the cops are the biggest labor traitors around. And NYC taxpayers should be outraged one of the wealthiest corporations around is protecting itself through the use of public law enforcement officers.

This is a little too on the nose, NYPD.

Don't be like the cops. Support Amazon workers on strike! actionnetwork.org/forms/gettin...
