Americans are largely against it. It's undemocratic and illegal. It's messy and proven to cost lives and money without solving the complex problem. We've seen from previous military misadventures how messy this gets. The framing of talking weakness and strength is suspicious.
Being anonymous while claiming others look weak is a way to look weak.
Some Democrats hate that their party is largely positioning itself in opposition to the operation that resulted in Maduro's capture.
