Anyone find it funny how when the UK releases the Cass review to ban trans care, we get everything ranging from New York Times push notifs to op-eds in every major US paper...

But when Germany, Switzerland, and Austria release pro-trans youth care guidelines, not a single article anywhere but mine?
1. Major news in transgender care.

Germany, Switzerland, and Austria have just released their trans youth care guidelines.

They strongly recommend trans youth care and slam the
Cass Review in England.

Europe is not "pulling back" on trans care.

The recommendations, released by the Association of the Scientific Medical Societies in Germany, come at a time when US politicians erroneously claim that Europe is "pulling back" on transgender care.

Since the president has signed an EO making English the official language of the United States, here is the first non-English copy of the Declaration of Independence, printed in German just days after July 4, 1776. We have always been multilingual.

The irony of a creationist saying that data doesn’t lie . . .
Johnson: "Elon's cracked the code. He's now inside these agencies. He's created these algorithms that are constantly crawling through the data & as he told me in his office, data doesn't lie. We're gonna be able to get the information. We're gonna be able to transform the way federal govt works."

So incredibly happy to see so much snow in Louisiana. Growing up on Bayou Lafourche, I remember seeing snow the first time in my life at 10 years old…

There are kids who never leave the bayou, who have never seen this before, and they’re in heaven right now.

Have fun y’all.

I see people saying that this is college freshman-level reasoning.

No, it’s not. I teach freshmen. They are far smarter and more nuanced in their thinking than Yarvin is in his 50’s.

This is the student who doesn’t bother going to class because they think it’s a waste of their brilliance.

In re Claremont, Paul Fussell rightly pointed out back in the 80s that think tanks and institutes with all their talk of “scholars” and “fellows” was just people playing at university without having actually to put in the work—or, I’d add, having to face oppositional views from colleagues.

Poststructuralism: The Board Game

Seriously though, I really want to check this out. Guessing it will come up when I teach Crying of Lot 49 this semester.

The Dems had a choice in the 90’s. Come hard at Reaganism or capitulate to Gingrich and the “Republican Revolution.” Thanks to Bill Clinton, the “Third Way” became entrenched as strategy, and we’ve been paying for it ever since.

*for a fairly elastic definition of horror, and indeed found footage.

I’m a huge fan of this sometimes-maligned genre. I’ve seen all of these, but I’m always on the lookout for more; does anyone have any recommendations for films not on this list?
