This isn't about "parents" it's about "mothers" & a coordinated assault on women's autonomy. By dismantling childcare and glorifying “parents at home,” MAGA is coercing women out of the workforce to reimpose patriarchal control. It’s anti-labor, anti-choice, and anti-freedom - women are the target!

Today I learned that the author of this 1977 op-ed was the most important college mentor for the current head of the DOJ’s Civil Rights Division.
'Roots' Was a Racist Attack on White People THIS IS going to be a harsher column than l ordinarily care to write, but the whole "Roots" phenomenon deserves some blunt comment. Tens of millions of Americans sat through the eight TV episodes of "Roots" and apparently did not understand that they themselves were being attacked both directly and unjustifiably. This fact is at once alarming and profoundly depressing. The attack made by "Roots," more-over, was deeply racist, practically all of the whites being unattractive louts, practically all of the blacks nature's noblemen. This is the sort of thing many of the commentators are calling "mythic truth." That is, people with white skins are, morally speaking, unattractive louts. As Susan Sontag once put it, whites are the cancer of the human race. "Roots" was just as blunt. Is it possible that the white audience for "Roots" was unaware that it was being assaulted? If so, then perhaps that audience really does deserve to be ripped off, picked clean - for that is what "Roots" is really all about. "Roots" does not have much to do with histo-ry, which is scarcely present at all in the series, but with concrete political claims in the present. The message comes through loud and clear, viz., because of the slavery experience in the past, contemporary Jeffrey Hart blacks have special valid claims on contemporary whites. Contemporary whites, indeed, should feel guilty in connection with blacks. now awarded status" Haley. "Roots" means to offer blacks a mor. al blank check, figures to be filled in at leisure: quotas in jobs and colleges, privileged access to the federal kitty, favorable court decisions on highly disputed matters, and so forth. An audience willing to ooh and aah over "Roots" is not about to resist very strongly when the political rip-offs arrive. To achieve its propagandistic goals. "Roots" makes a mish-mash of histo. ry. Protest in Buckhannon, WV today in honor of Senator Shelley Moore Capito’s rah-rah speech at West Virginia Wesleyan’s graduation. She can go speak there to peddle BS to graduates but not speak to her constituents or hold town halls. She’s been consistently voting against all our interests.

This is state-linked eliminationist rhetoric. In any democracy that still valued its institutions, this would be grounds for immediate public condemnation & review for terms of dismissal. In the current climate, it’s another test of how far the Overton window has shifted under authoritarian creep.
