Cramming all night for a work presentation in your 30s hits different than cramming all night for an exam in college.

As in, it hits hard enough to make you go into a panic attack and faint at your desk when the presentation bombs.

And that's how I learned the upper limit of my caffeine tolerance.

This isn't an exageration.

If I find myself in a situation where my family has to bankrupt themselves to keep me alive, specifically because the US is a nightmare for anyone without employer-funded healthcare (and many who have it, too!), I'd rather just disappear than put them in the same danger.

Hesitant because I haven't seen anything as bad as pro sports abuse, at least not personally, and no one blogs about phones and laptops thinking they'll get rich.

But I have had my mental and physical health harmed by cool nerdy bosses, beloved by their readers, who didn't give a shit about people.

I've often thought, and hesitated to articulate, that tech media suffers from similar problems as other aspirational fields, like pro sports, animation, game dev.

There are tons young, eager people who want to do what they love. They're easy to exploit, discard, & replace when they're used up.

they just wouldn't generate wealth for a few rich assholes
