This, tragically, is the right away to report on Trump’s moves on Monday which were supposed to be great for Ukraine. Russia now has 50 days impunity to hammer Ukrainian civilians. And there is no guarantee Trump will do anything after that as well.

Ukraine carries to grave the victims of russia’s Palm Sunday “mistake”.

Father, mother and son. The family was on their way to church.

They put a soccer ball into the son’s casket. The boy loved soccer.

7/7. This has not been a peace process. It has not even been appeasement. It has been the US throwing its power on Russia’s side in a war of aggression.

Europe should have a moved into Ukraine long time before, the latest when North Koreans appeared at the frontline and supported the invasion of Ukraine. French President Macron’s statements are therefore only logical and necessary. Move in!

I had the privilege to pay my respects at this Dnipro war cemetery yesterday. Cemeteries like this all over Ukraine contain the remains of those who have courageously defended Ukraine against Russia since 2014, and represent endless acres of heartbreak for the people of #Ukraine.

The Mother of All Threads on Musk-Moscow collusion.
Essential reading.
34/ Musk did not turn on Ukraine, the EU, NATO—even the United Nations—organically.

He was _turned_—after he began jonesing to move his businesses into Russia (partly due to pandemic issues) and after he began having clandestine contacts with Putin.

From that point in, everything changed for Musk.

An interesting thought. Perhaps the conformism or indulgency to one’s desires are the root of this. “Stupidity is not an intellectual defect but a moral one. There are human beings who are remarkably agile intellectually yet stupid, and others who are intellectually dull yet anything but stupid.”
Another lesson that comes to mind today is Bonhoeffer's Theory of Stupidity. This postulates that stupid (or ignorant) people are more dangerous than truly evil ones. 4/n www.youtube.com/watch?v=ww47...

I'm pretty sure that Putin is well aware of his shortcomings. He expected this war to be a short affair, and if had his way and Ukraine would have collapsed, there would have been some reason to give him credit. But facts and reality are stubborn things, and they show his monumental miscalculation.

1: as punishment for rebelling against him, to send a signal to everyone else that he is the leader and cannot be questioned

2: To keep the west out of Ukraine at all costs

5/ If Western politicians fail to do so, they will be squandering the sacrifices of those who fought and sacrificed to win WW2 and the Cold War. The cost of deterring countries like Russia and China will be very large. But the cost of not doing so will be exponentially bigger for all of us.

I would like to demonstrate the equipment you helped deliver to Ukraine in action. It might inspire others to contribute and help the fundraiser reach its goal. Tomorrow is New Year's Eve, and perhaps you could make a meaningful gift to these engineers by donating:
