So… Now what?
Some would say Fox News paid a steep price when they were held accountable in the Dominion falsehood. However, they also didn’t go under and didn’t lose support so one could argue they became stronger because of it.

The level of fear they have he might call them a loser or fake news is incredible.
I blame all media including cnn for normalizing the bullshit that the orange felon spews. I’ll never watch cnn again.

Republicans know taking up the causes of the stupid are very lucrative.
Senator-elect Jim Banks on RFK Jr: "This country is ready for a big debate about vaccines."

And I’m here to say it’ll be twice as bad as @mehdirhasan.bsky.social thinks it will be.
Just to be clear: however bad you think the Trump second term will be, I assure you it’ll be worse.

I spent my morning talking to ChatGPT about numbers and counting and why we start at 1 and not 0 when it’s 0-9 and stuff… wyd?

Guess I have to stop by X to tell Nate Silver to go f himself
Nate Silver jumped the shark long ago.

This needs to be said often and loudly.
"Repeat after me: there was no 'landslide'. There was no 'blowout'. There was no 'sweeping' mandate given to Trump by the electorate. The numbers don’t lie."

My new Guardian op-ed on the new GOP election lie - and why it's important to rebut it! I brought (lots of) receipts:
Donald Trump didn’t win by a historic landslide. It’s time to nip that lie in the bud | Mehdi Hasan
In 2024, we have a new post-election lie – Trump didn’t just win, Republicans say, but he won big. He won a landslide. That’s false

This is very much on point.
“Don’t feed the trolls” also extends to bad opinion pieces in papers of record.

They run them bc people react to them the most.

If we stop linking to bad columns and instead post thinkers we find valuable (& generate convo around it), incentives change.

It’s not easy and takes constant practice!

So a reminder:

It’s not ‘liberals’ saying Hegseth abuses women. It’s his mom.

It’s not ‘liberals’ comparing Trump to Hitler. It’s his vice-president.

It’s not ‘liberals’ calling Musk a liar and a racist. It’s his own child.

For the record.

The phenomenon taking place now is Trump will start talking about all of the things h he fabricated during the campaign magically going away (because they didn’t actually exist). This was prevalent in Trump I and will be more prevalent in Trump II. It’s all branding and propaganda.
November 28, 2024 at 5:06 PM
The branding game is strong with the red team. They are now crediting the looming shadow of Trump for the peace deal between Israel and a Hezbollah… you’ll hear that a lot.
November 27, 2024 at 4:19 PM
It’s a near guarantee we’ll (a) see less implementation of any sort of tariffs and (b) hear about how just the threat of them worked.

That’s the red party in a nutshell. Propaganda and branding.
November 27, 2024 at 1:08 PM
The “How dare you!?!?!?!” bullshit move of the Red Team is getting old. “How dare you say Trump is going to implement Project 2025?!?!?” was the same faux outrage energy they had after Jan 6 only to suddenly become cool with it. Seriously, fair to tell them to F off.
November 26, 2024 at 3:14 PM
This is very accurate.
Took a glance at the bad place today.

Whew.

They REALLY hate BlueSky.

It’s like Republicans can’t function without people to troll, and it’s fucking hilarious to watch.

Now that I’ve realized how upsetting it is to those X folks when people DON’T argue with them, I don’t really want to engage anymore.

We’ve made her a thing now. She’s been trying to get noticed for some time.

Maybe if she was also trying to outlaw frat parties, altar boys at Catholic crutches and family gatherings, I’d buy this concern a bit more.
REPORTER: Is this effort in response to Congresswoman McBride coming to Congress?

NANCY MACE: Yes, and absolutely, and then some. Someone with a penis in the women's locker room -- that's not ok. I'm a victim of abuse myself. I'm a rape survivor.

When Republicans are in power, they rack up giant deficits, mainly by cutting taxes on corporations and the wealthy.

Then when Democrats take the reins, Republicans blame them for being big spenders.

It’s always the same story.
November 18, 2024 at 8:43 PM
The “mandate” branding was brought about by the MSM pushing it early and then has now become weaponized by Republicans to push terrible ideas
Oklahoma schools superintendent Ryan Walters on CNN: "President Trump has a clear mandate. He wants prayer back in schools." (1/4)

Hey MAGA, we know the bridge you live under. We’ll come visit when we want… but this place isn’t for you.

The same group that says 63% of Americans thinking abortion should be legal in all cases isn’t enough to defend the right say Trump’s 31% of eligible voters and 50% of those who voted is a “mandate”… just call bullshit whenever they say it.
November 17, 2024 at 10:31 PM
“Echo chamber” is another right wing branding attempt to disparage civility and mental health. Imagine being that level of bully and self-righteousness to think someone MUST listen to what vitriol you spew. Seriously, get f*****.

The new Big Lie is the “mandate”… this was how it is going to finish:

31.4% Trump
31.0% Harris
0.4% Third Party
37.2% Did Not Vote

2 senators, 2 House positions… That’s not a mandate. It’s a slight shift and yet again good branding by the red side.
