My proposal to solve Ticketmaster being the literal worst: open NYC venues where tickets are only available IRL at a ticket booth window.

Mamdani's victory speech should be a roadmap for the entire Democratic party if they actually want to take regaining power seriously.

If there is one thing the national reach of the NYC mayoral race can teach Democrats everywhere else in the US, it is this point exactly. For a party that has been floundering on how to act, how to reach anyone under the age of 50, and how to actually behave like an opposition party, take notes.
From now through November, we're gonna hear about how NYC is different and how we cannot think that what works here will work everywhere.

But this part absolutely will: Create an active (not reactive) vision for what the world could be. Motivate people to build that world together, with you. Win.

I do not believe we should put politicians on a pedestal or treat them as celebrities. I do believe our city would be better led by someone who actually lives here and sees the city for what it is, instead of how it is portrayed on cable news, and can lead from a place of joy instead of one of fear.

I will stand by a statement I have made in my work life multiple times: Meta's biggest issue isn't TikTok, or people moving from posting to feed to talking in DMs. Meta's biggest issue people moving those DM conversations to iMessage or Discord.

~11 years ago, I was the most junior person in a big marketing meeting, our client was concerned that we were spending so much more on Facebook videos instead of TV commercials. I have not forgotten the expressions of the room as I gently explained that the TV was, at best, the "second screen" now.
Said this on the Vergecast last week but this will backfire — the audience isn’t just going to watch whatever is on broadcast TV, they’re going to look at their phones instead!

By ill fates or by design, the last ~15 years of media and technology have left us where there is no way to build an audience (for news, media, music, podcasts, for anything really) without reliance on existing network effects. If you have a story, how do you get it to people without Posting?
The media company that can figure out how to produce news or news adjacent video content without relying on YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Twitch, broadcast TV, cable, or corporate streamers will make a billion dollars and probably help save American democracy — or exist long enough to document its end
Becoming increasingly clear we’re gonna have to build a parallel infrastructure for all the media we really love. The reason all of this is happening under the color of law is hyperconsolidation, dissent being traded straight up for merger approval, or fear of harassment.

The last few months have proven out that we have a media apparatus, press, and government woefully ill equipped to deal with a generation of irony poisoned and blackpilled young (mostly) men who, because the long tail of American politics, have unfettered access to guns and ammo.
Speculating, I'd say abstract nihilism.

"Notices bulges" etc is copypasta.

"Uparrow" etc is a large attack in Helldivers 2.

"Bella Ciao" became popular again from Money Heist, lots of TikTok clips.

"Gay lmao" is probably, to him, casual homophobic gamer speak, nothing more.

Depressing brainrot.
Is it even clear from the meme references what the motivation would have been? Just that Kirk wasn’t enough far right? Or more abstractly nihilistic
