My dad was tortured by the Gestapo for 4 days and thrown in a concentration camp for being in the Norwegian Resistance. Growing up, he would tell me things he learned in the Resistance. I thought, I'm never going to need this stuff. Here's some of those things #Thread

In deeply Caucasian news, we rewatched Fall Guy and now can’t stop singing “against all odds.” Sigh.

Ok so I finished stupid Onyx Storm, WHICH I THOUGHT WAS THE COMPLETION OF A TRILOGY, and ended up way angrier than I was when I started. There’s “mystery” and there’s losing the plot. I hate everyone I need romantasy to burn.

The Trump administration’s NIH freezes do not only affect federal science agencies. NIH grants fund research at universities and many other institutions. Halting NIH grant reviews sabotages important scientific research everywhere.

This is so accurate.
Listen y’all, every Apple TV sci-fi show I’ve watched has felt like reading a good sci-fi novel. I don’t know what they’re doing in Cupertino, but they’ve got the juice.

Something I do genuinely think Georgia should get more credit for is that we won two national championships with a coach and quarterback both from deep south Georgia and neither of them made you listen to their opinions about God for a single second
Riley Leonard loves talking about his close personal friend Jesus and I have to imagine it drives a small but loud portion of the lifelong mass-attending Catholic Notre Dame fanbase absolutely nuts

Such an interesting piece.
A modern home in Pacific Palisades survived the fire while all the homes around it burned. It was luck, but also it was made to withstand a wildfire, and it did.

I spoke with the architect who designed it, plus other architects, about designing for disaster: www.bloomberg.com/news/article...

One of the worst things American society has done is launder wealth as intelligence through our elite universities in order obscure our class system. Here's Peter Thiel, an average guy from Cleveland who simply cannot be content with a middling brain and a lot of money. www.ft.com/content/a46c...

Maybe it’s a good thing that I mistook Anita Bryant for Anita Baker. Means she’s forgotten, maybe. Still a bad bad lady. And I’m still getting dumber. 🏳️‍🌈

Occasional reminder that there’s no, “it’s too late, its over” for anthropogenic climate change. Every molecule of CO2 that doesn’t go into the atmosphere makes a difference. Preventing 0.1 degree of warming makes a difference. Every bit of climate resilience we build together makes a difference.

Maybe we are being taught to/herded into not communicating broadly. Feels like it. Might have to bail on the whole social media enterprise and take up birdwatching. The crows get me. 🐦‍⬛

We had several inches of snow two days ago and skied in the mountains. It’s rainy and in the 50s and the littler ski places are closed bc it’s rivers. My yard is now muddy green and I’m a stone’s throw from Canada. Deeply effed.
