More than 1800 detainees are missing after the closure of Alligator Alcatraz. Their families and lawyers can’t find them and they’ve vanished from the ICE database. Feels like this should be a much bigger story www.miamiherald.com/news/local/i...
Hundreds of Alligator Alcatraz detainees drop off the grid after leaving site
As of the end of August, the whereabouts of two-thirds of more than 1,800 men detained at Alligator Alcatraz during the month of July could not be determined by the Miami Herald.

America is telling many of its most talented workers that they are no longer needed.

Highly talented queer, transgender, women, and black workers have been hit the worst by layoffs and what CEOs are describing as a class of permanently unemployed as the USA focuses on "ending DEI".
A thought I keep returning to is that a legacy corporation or a deep-pocketed investor-backed startup could hire an astonishing array of talent trying to leave the United States right now and make the best tech company in the world overnight.
A thought I keep returning to — and that’s underscored by today’s news — is that a legacy publication or a deep-pocketed investor could hire an astonishing array of talent right now and make the best newspaper in America overnight.

Way back when we released the APT1 report, a Taiwanese news company (maybe Next Animation Studio?) released a hilarious animated video news clip about it.... Anybody happen to have a copy of the video or know where it still lives online? It seems to have fallen out of search results... 😁

As someone who entered the job market right around the dot com bubble bursting, I believe the correct question is "Do you think every major CEO could be wrong *for a third time in my lifetime*?"

Washington foresaw this day coming...

This shouldn’t be controversial but I’m against a police state abducting and deporting men they claim are bad dudes not because I can find a few I don’t know much about who I can claim are actually good dudes. I don’t care what kind of dude. My problem is with police state abductions.

Senator, welcome to Bluesky.

Can you explain why you're sponsoring a bill to repeal Section 230, which would effectively make it impossible for Bluesky to do what it's doing today, creating this kind of space?

Thanks.

Call me crazy, but I think Justin Sun, a Chinese national being prosecuted for fraud by the SEC, sending Trump $18 million should be a bigger story

The direct enrichment of Trump by a foreign national weeks before he takes office has merited no coverage in the NYT or Washington Post
A Chinese national, charged with fraud by the SEC, just sent Donald Trump $18 million
Chinese Crypto entrepreneur Justin Sun paid $6.2 million for a banana — sold by Sotheby's as conceptual art — and then ate it last Friday.
