So my question is, who is working on rebuilding our democracy so that the guardrails are stronger and can withstand a coordinated/manipulated takeover by someone much, much more savvy & intelligent than Trump? Aren't there thinktanks or nonprofits that do worse case scenario strategy & study?

Now that Halloween is out of the way, I bring you this Public Service Announcement... Tuesday, Nov 4th, 2025, myself and many thousands of volunteers will be helping all voters across the state of North Carolina to vote all day. This may not be a huge election year or a high turnout election... 1/2

I think it’s high time we take back the national narrative. For centuries Americans of all races, genders, religions, and abilities have worked to create a more perfect union, and we should shout from the rooftops that WE are America. Not these idiot white supremacist authoritarians.

My family had a big discussion about AI and what it can and can not do today. This story is just further proof that if left unchecked, AI can/will cause damage.
It’s so much crazier than that. A woman appealed a lower court ruling for her ex-husband, pointing out the court’s order relied on 4 hallucinated or real-but-irrelevant cases. Ex-husband’s lawyer then files a reply to the appeals court with ELEVEN hallucinated or irrelevant case citations!
First time a judge has decided a case based on hallucinated case law in the US that I've encountered.

A few places where Mekka missed the mark are typically because this administration moved more aggressively than what at the time seemed like a pessimistic view.

For instance, why stop at revoking green cards or deporting green card holders?

It’s sobering to realize that there are powerful people in Washington and Silicon Valley who believe America’s biggest problem is that it has too many non-white people and they’ve been successfully executing on a decade long plan to “fix” it.

I would rather live with less and be known for decency, compassion, and gratefulness, like this human.

And, can I just say that including their faithful companion with them is bringing me to tears again.

Such a sad loss, but a beautiful memorial.
Former President Joe Biden came to the Capitol after 4 p.m. to pay his respects to Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband Mark.

He spent about 90 seconds in front of the caskets, made the sign of the cross and knelt quietly.

Al Gore didn’t hold back: The Trump admin is “attacking the heart of truth,” twisting facts like the Nazis did in the 1930s. From climate denial to rewriting the Ukraine war, it’s all about power—not reality.
Gore warned the U.S. is under siege—and every former leader should speak out like he did.

The wheel of time weaves a web that connects us all; what one man does ripples through to every other. In this, we are never alone. We must join our strengths and weaknesses, work as one, and maybe, just maybe, we weave something beautiful.

The irony in everything that is happening from 47's admin is that they are proving the progressive's point. Minorities & women and diversity & inclusion and compassion & generosity are actually drivers of prosperity for the many as opposed to the few. Angry white men tend to regressive policies.

When I tell people it's obvious Trump is trying to create a fascist dictatorship, they grow quiet and uncomfortable. They don't argue with me because they know it's true. Even so, they hate hearing it. Because it makes them feel helpless. But we're not helpless. Get active now, while you can.

So apparently, to protect themselves and their families, ICE officers have to cover their faces and don't carry IDs. Or, bare with me here, maybe they should just stop participating in activities that are clearly wrong, maybe? If you will not identify yourself, then we are not obligated to submit.
