All my news feeds have decayed, so here we are.

A post for pinning!
Pronouns any. Let me know if I'm being annoying.
I've avoided Twitter for years and I've fallen off on the Fediverse, so I'm feeling my way around etiquette for this kind of service.
Finally diving in because my other sources for local news have decayed entirely. C'est la vie.

Saw that the local library's meet-at-a-bar book club was doing Kaliane Bradley's The Ministry of Time for the month and reread it in a weekend a couple of weeks ago.
Now incredibly nervous to just show up at the meeting today at the cider house.
What if I read the book wrong.

Annual lighting of the fireplace has been attempted.
As is traditional, this was followed by the disabling of the smoke detector and the opening of the windows.

Incredibly annoyed at this "17,000 illegal CDLs" headline that's doing the rounds.
As best I can tell this is all reposting or reporting on the same AP story, which is based on one DoT statement from Duffy.
Worse, the numbers seem to be pulled from the letter DoT initially sent to CA??

Once again
I honestly can't believe we're still fussing over fucking epstein while the country is flooding and the government is being dismantled and they're breaking windows to pull people out of their cars to put in concentration camps in the everglades and scotus is signing off on it all

Arianna Sofia Veraza and her parents were driving to Sam's Club for milk, eggs and diapers yesterday when they heard helicopters and horns blaring yesterday. They had turned around to leave when a federal agent pepper-sprayed them through a car window.

Pepper-sprayed Berwyn family rattled after getting caught up in federal blitz
Southwest Side politicians condemned Saturday’s pepper spraying and the federal sweep of Little Village as “state-sponsored terrorism” at a news conference Sunday.

This is the last piece I filed before my brilliant editor, @leximcmenamin.com, was laid off alongside many other members of the amazing team. Can’t express how much I admire Lex’s writing & how they approach their work. Please hire Lex, and the rest of the incredible team who was laid off, ASAP:
I was laid off from Teen Vogue today along with multiple other staffers, and today is my last day.

certainly more to come from me when the dust has settled more, but to my knowledge, after today, there will be no politics staffers at Teen Vogue.

It feels a bit weird to post right now in light of what has happened to @teenvogue.com and so much of the incredible team there. What sources shared here is important, & I’m grateful I got to work on this. I reported on how young people are being impacted by delays to SNAP: “It’s about survival.”

Because Cheney's the center of this old blog post, a reminder that some of us saw that the destruction of shame would be a problem twenty years ago, we're not reaping a single thing now that oh so dignified, *respectable* Republicans did not sow decades ago.

Fucked up my back this morning because we felt frisky and decided to sneak into the master bathroom for an extra door between us and any interruptions.
Been walking around all day with the rigid careful posture of a Kentucky senator.
MIL will not stop asking exactly how I hurt myself.

Got to take a picture with a couple of beautiful macaws today, with them on my shoulders.
One on the right very gently leaned over and pulled the front of my earring out. Just a little gold ball stud with a butterfly back.
Owner very calmly panicked and tried to get her to trade for a treat.

Amazing how they manage to fail by every possible measure except pure cruelty.
Want immigrants gone? Can't process volunteer deportations.
Want to save money by efficiency? Can't just buy a plane ticket, have to pay to brutalize and detain for an indeterminate period first.

Denim den– Monday's black uniqlo jeans. Perfect
And where was– blue trucker jacket. Probably won't rain? Good enough
