I was going to make a joke about this, but in the comments people point out that, yes, Mary is commonly depicted this way *on purpose*, which is fascinating. Perhaps art history majors obviously know this, but it's new to me, and I'd bet, lots of others.

We just had our US taxes done recently - even though we're living in Ireland, we're still US citizens and need to file there as well as here.
