Aspiring homesteader who loves nerdy board games, knitting, and sci-fi/fantasy novels. Stay-at-home Mom of three. Clergy. Lives on an island off the coast of Maine.
Pinned
At the end of 2022, I left my job as pastor of the community church on the island to be a stay at home mom. Now my days consist of wrangling children and chickens and planning our homestead. Continue to be interested in building spiritual community in a neo-monastic way. Very much not a tradwife.

Senator Susan Collins sleeps on Senate floor through Senator Schiff’s reminder: “Feeding hungry kids is not waste. This bill is going to take lunches out of school cafeterias.”

Collins awakens and rises, votes no to feeding kids.

Here's the thing - it's good to create supportive and resilient community and to do good things for the resistance. But this administration is taking people off the street and taking away people's access to food and health care. You can't GoFundMe your way out of this.
Today House Republicans, cheered on by the richest person on Earth, passed a budget framework that will cut support for the poorest people in our country.

All while cutting taxes for corporations and the wealthy, and massively increasing the deficit.

Do you ever look at a sparrow and think, "that bird is really wasting her potential?"

No. That thought would clang against the simple dignity we sense in nature, the dignity of a living thing inhabiting a life.

You are that sparrow. You are the branch she rests upon.
You embody that same dignity.

The IRS unit that audits ultrawealthy earners has lost 38% of its employees this year.

This will starve the government of revenue by making it easier for the rich to evade taxes — which the top 1% already do to the tune of $163B a year.

See what DOGE is really about?

SCHUMER: Would the senator yield for a question?

BOOKER: Chuck Schumer, it's the only time in my life I can tell you no

SCHUMER: I just want to tell you, do you know you have just broken the record? Do you know how proud America is of you?

The point of Senator Booker's filibuster is to be INSPIRED by this man to go find YOUR ROLE, not to wait for them to go save us now.

That is not this assignment.

Thread of places to go to get started. More coming out of LiST this Thursday.

Booker throughout this last 24 hours has over and over again pointed to the great cloud of witnesses we are surrounded by as we fight. We fight in honor of them and in hope for our children.

There's something special about watching this historic moment with my 9 yo. We talk a lot about who is standing up to this administration - and Senator Cory Booker is one great example.

Honestly, they have no leg to stand on after Musk basically bribed WI voters.
The idea that protestors are paid because no one really has any principles, let alone THOSE principles, is a very old one, aired by the right about everything we've ever protested, pretty much.

Sometimes I wonder why we keep so many sheet sets and towels and baskets full of rags when we barely use half of them. Sometimes I think about downsizing...and then two of your kids get the stomach bug again and you remember why these things come in handy.

Not pictured is the load in the dryer...

New tactic that I might try...
How to make Susan Collins's staff testy: Say you'd like to attend 1 of her town halls & ask when it's scheduled. When you're told nothing's "currently" scheduled, ask whether it's true that Collins hasn't held one in 25 years. Answer: "I don't know." Huh. I do. #MEpolitics wgme.com/news/local/p...

I appreciate the days we send our toddler to daycare because it means I can use the dishwasher for its whole 3 hour cycle without having to worry that my kid is going to restart the cycle 5 times when there is 1 hour left 🙃
