Sometimes I wonder why we keep so many sheet sets and towels and baskets full of rags when we barely use half of them. Sometimes I think about downsizing...and then two of your kids get the stomach bug again and you remember why these things come in handy.

Not pictured is the load in the dryer...

I showed my middle daughter the eagle that was eyeing our coop this afternoon (as our chickens were in the run)...

G: Wow! Did the eagle have a chicken for lunch?

In the end, what's going to get us through this time? Our neighbors. Our community. The people who show up to help. I was reminded of that today when various friends and neighbors helped me get my car unstuck from our driveway.

Having a quiet morning with E while the rest of the house is sleeping. It was a pretty sky this AM when I went out to feed the chickens. Glad for power and no ice!

Finally some snow worth the name. The snow was almost to my knees as I walked down the slope to feed the chickens this morning.

Have another sick kid at home today. 😭 I thought we had gotten out of stomach bug land...

It took me 10 minutes to get all this onto the ferry dock. This is only after two stores - I decided getting home was worth skipping the last stop.

I was thinking more along the lines of them rewriting the song about the 3 branches of government...

By the time I get home, I will have:

- loaded all the groceries into my car
- unloaded them and dragged them down to the dock
- dragged them to my island car
- loaded them all up into the island car
- unloaded them again at home

Imagine this with a Costco Haul.

Ahhhhh! We're up to 3 eggs! Pretty sure it's our remaining Brahma and our two Lavender Orpingtons. Our Buff Orpington and Easter Eggers left to go.

Gas at Costco today? $2.79. In town? $3.09. Guess how much on island? Mind you, my mpg this full up was 11.3....

Hot coffee, warm fire. But for a few commitments today (and, of course, getting fresh water for the chickens), I am not moving from this spot!
