Hello, friends! After 10(!) years of #AdventOfCode, I've made some changes to preserve my sanity: there will be 12 days of puzzles each December (still starting Dec 1) and there is no longer a global leaderboard. Read more:

SWPC has only ever issued a handful of G4 watches, and we have now for Nov 12 due to three incoming CMEs. Storming may begin on Nov 11 with the impact of the first CME with two more close behind it.

If the forecast verifies, much of the U.S. may see the aurora Tue/Wed nights.

Religious organisations with not-for-profit status shouldn’t be able to put huge amounts of money into influencing federal elections.

As a member of the Joint Standing Committee on Electoral Matters, I’m looking forward to investigating third party involvement in the recent election.
‘I’m glad we didn’t win’: Liberal campaigners feared Brethren-fuelled Dutton victory
The Plymouth Brethren Christian Church was so enmeshed in local Liberal campaigns that they were cleaning candidates’ houses. Now a new inquiry has been launched.

The whiplash from how quickly Aussie media will label any pro-Palestine protest as ‘antisemitic’ but when actual Neo-Nazis are protesting on some white supremacist shit the media is like ‘woah woah woah. let’s not go throwing any labels around’

Far right terrorists like those who brought the gallows to our parliament just murdered police.

Time for accountability now.

Politicians and media who openly supported these scum must answer for their actions.

Wrote an article for @theshot.net.au about ‘debate content’, how it’s terrible for society and why we need to stop indulging in it.

“Ultimately, if debating dickheads worked, we wouldn’t be in a situation where dickheads are making the world a worse place.”

Chatbots — LLMs — do not know facts and are not designed to be able to accurately answer factual questions. They are designed to find and mimic patterns of words, probabilistically. When they’re “right” it’s because correct things are often written down, so those patterns are frequent. That’s all.

There's no place in Australian electoral campaigns for violence and aggression. In many instances the language used against female candidates is gendered and misogynistic.

The video circulating this week of a man violently destroying political signage in Kooyong is deeply concerning.

Heads up! Two, large central-disk dimmings were just observed from a filament release and eruptive M1.2 flare, and a couple CMEs may be headed to Earth. We will need to see what (if any) ejecta made it into coronagraph imagery, but suddenly, this week just got VERY interesting.

I've spoken to half a dozen LNP MPs who had no idea about the citizen 'referendum' policy Dutton is backing in who all think it is nuts - but that is not the point. None are willing to push back because party stability these days means blind obedience, not challenge.

So the major parties passed these electoral reforms late last night

They come into effect after the 2025 election. Which means this could be our last fair election. And the last chance to tell the two-party system to piss off

Only a Xbench with balance of power can reform these reforms now
BREAKING: Labor and Liberal may not agree on much but when it comes to introducing a new law to stop Clive Palmer, but which actually stops newcomers from competing with them in our elections, you can be sure they'll pass it and lock in the two-party system by Xmas www.youtube.com/watch?v=N3WT...
