Not sleeping. Thinking about disconfirmation bias, beliefs, and all of the ways we try to avoid believing what we a seeing by purposeful disengagement with the idea at hand.

If war were just human nature, it would not be so deeply long-term traumatizing to participate in war.

If war were just human nature, military training would not amount to psychological torture.

If war were just human nature, there would be no need to pump literal billions into pro-war propaganda.

I am thinking about the time I asked my mother what she would serve the president if he came to our house - imagining the feast she would prepare - and she said she’d give him a peanut butter sandwich, because his job is to serve the people, not the other way around.

Anyway a great way to radicalize people is for them to realize that you just abandoned their chance at being able to access and afford health care because you didn’t like waiting in line at the airport.

The end is nigh
A pitch-black cave in the Balkans is home to what appears to be the world’s largest spider web, which researchers say is a singular work of cooperation by two usually-hostile species of spider.

So it turns out... the US air travel system was incredibly, deeply dependent on federal funding to just run day-to-day all this time, to the benefit of private airline shareholders, when everyone thinks that state-run trains are leeching off the government. Weird!

The big article on data centers in the New Yorker is pretty good, which I wasn’t expecting given the reaction on X. Lots of talk of the good and bad of AI, and it covers both bubble & non-bubble arguments.

It also featured the best version of “I spoke to a local farmer about a data center”

Men are on food stamps because they qualify to receive them under the law. Period.
First of all, could you be anymore misogynistic? Secondly, you don't know why a lot of men are on Snap benefits. There are men that are too old to work. There are disabled men. There are single fathers that just can't make ends meet without the help of

Most economists agree by the time you're 50 you should have:
- a robust stock portfolio
- at least 2 enchanted swords
- a tiara of ancient goblin bones
- a secret lair in the old forest
- a steam powered mechanical wolf to ride through the old forest in style and menacing grace

A small big of normalcy in the SALTiest of cities:

Last night we put a “take one” sign on our candy bowl to step away and talk with neighbors.

On our walk back home we spotted a teenager with our empty candy bowl. I guess the bowl was the only “one” left to take 😂

Good morning from my neighborhood in Chicago where we just played the game “Wait, is that a lawnmower or are those ICE helicopters again?”

Either way - f*ck those guys. It’s 7am and nobody wants that noise.

And THAT'S why women are too emotional to be President.
