So. Obviously I'm new here.
I might be silent for long stretches.
Or rant about politics.
Or books.
Or movies.
Well, wax lyrical in case of the latter two, I suppose.
This will certainly follow no discernable pattern. Just like me.
Heute im Radio zufällig einen Kommentar von Fritz Eckenga gehört, der kurz das Thema Grönland streifte. "... dieser ungünstig frisierte Soziopath aus Washington..."
Heard a comment on the radio today that briefly mentioned Greenland. And "this unfavourably coiffed sociopath from Washington". 😂

Self-what-now??
Caine, in what happened when the military invaded Maduro’s compound: “On arrival into the target area, the helicopters came under fire, and they replied to that fire with overwhelming force in self-defense.”

We’re going to be reading that sentence for years.

Okay. I needed a few hours to stomach the news
The world should have already protested when Trump had the boats bombed. Even if they were transporting drugs (Were they?!), that was no appropriate reaction.
But if the world - and other American politicians- doesn't/don't do anything now....

So. Just unpacked my Covid, er, Christmas bag. Which contained books from the Expanse series and A Snake in the Barley and The Rest Is Death, @sirbenfro.bsky.social, @candacerobbauthor.bsky.social.
So thank you for brightening this lousy Christmas a bit.

Wishing everyone a better Christmas than mine.
A positive covid test just killed my planned family visit.

Okay, not as interesting and hairy as @sirbenfro.bsky.social's coos but I've been driving past some not that usual cows on my way to work:

I suppose an update on the job post is in order.
*checks month and giggles*
Overdue?
I took the job, and it was a good decision.
There are some staff issues that are annoying, but on the other hand it only makes the boss appreciate me more.
And cutting the distance in half is a real bonus as well.

Inspired by Candace Robb's @candacerobbauthor.bsky.social post from a few days ago, I cooked a few lentils to death this evening.

So, yesterday, when I came home, there was a hedgehog standing in my driveway, facing the neighbours' fence. 🦔 The fence must have been reeeally interesting.
There would have been juuuust enough room to drive past. Hm.
I got out of the car and shooed it back across the driveway into my front yard.

Again, the cat. Twice now today. I am proud to say, I repeatedly booped her little nose.
July 20, 2025 at 12:52 PM
The cat was back (again). Sorry, no pics, was eating. She was lying under the climbing roses and looking like she was enjoying the birds going nuts in the trees. Then she gave me a funny look when I answered my phone. Apparently I was not supposed to do that.

It is the Feast Day of Saint Arnulf, patron of small objects made of twigs. If you find yourself making something out of twigs today, this is perfectly normal and not a sign of anything unfortunate. Relax and allow St. Arnulf to work through you.

Just sat in the sun, eating a cold vegan slice of pizza from an organic store while watching a toddler "doing sports": bending her knees two, three times with outstretched arms, taking a sip of Gatorade, bending knees, Gatorade..... Cute.

It's not caturday, but, here, have a cat.
The photo is from last year, but that same cat was using my kitchen windowsill as a catwalk (see what I did there?) again yesterday, prompting me to go out and pet them - again - so I consider it recent. No clue who they belong to but they look well groomed.
