The person can contact US DOL Wage & Hour and make a complaint, they would likely open a case. They can’t necessarily stop the employer from making those threats, but would pursue back wages or civil money penalties regardless of the person’s immigration status.

I remember Reagan, his budget director, and the GOP pushing the fewer taxes/more revenue falsehood, the Laffer curve, and trickle down economics. All junk science disproven by empirical evidence over 40+ years. Yet they still cling to it, and we continue to be worse off because of it.

Meanwhile, the limit on gifts for the average federal employee is what, $35? And frowned upon.

Washington has bet its fiscal future on the assumption that interest rates remain below 4% forever. If they are wrong - and the 10 year Treasury is currently at 4.5% - an eventual debt spiral awaits.

The combination of soaring debt and rising interest rates poses a major risk.
