Sometimes, when I'm deep in the pain of my period, I just want to cuddle up to my husband and be comforted. But I don't, because I start to feel bad that he's not going to 'get anything out of it'. And that's how deep the patriarchal lessons of male entitlement have rooted in my psyche.
