I work on early childhood policy, I complain about drivers, I share my kids' wit and whimsy, and in between I run a little. Living in Jersey City. Opinions are my own.
So we're excited and will also be sad. And I am already questioning the wisdom of packing up and moving during the holiday season. But, here we are!

I love our JC house! But 5 years ago- me pregnant while we juggle our 3yo, my husband freshly laid off during COVID but with a severance to help us buy, not knowing he would leave his field and start a whole new career...we could not have anticipated what our lives would be now.

In the end, I'm thinking of the words of a colleague when I changed jobs a decade ago: be sure you're running to something, not from something. Rahway brings us meaningfully closer to our support network while keeping us in a thriving community and giving us the type of space we need.

Leaving Jersey City will be hard- I'm actually very grateful our buyer is already a JC resident, so knows the city warts and all already. I worried about someone new buying the house who might find themselves puzzled by it a few years in. JC is a rich, wonderful, perplexing, maddening place to live.

Alice is an icon among disability justice icons. One of the baddest bitches to live. She made a way for herself & everyone who follows her in the world of disability representation. A literal (MacAurther) genius. Her impact is immeasurable. I can’t believe she’s gone.
