Friendly neighborhood weird mom.
I love this man
It’s the “season of love and giving”…but this year, doesn’t it seem more like a “season of fear and taking”? Like many of you, I’ve been saddened by the human impact of draconian government budget cuts and how angry many housed Americans are at unhoused Americans.

S2E9 of Fionna and Cake is so beautifully specific to having been through EMDR and I have nobody else to talk to about it so I'll just be over here trying to explain reprocessing trauma to a 10yo.

When will the adult boomer parents of millennial adult children stop putting them on their holiday cards? Is this linked to family phone plans? Do your adult children get to live their own lives?

Did I think the documentary about the poet living with terminal illness wasn't going to be depressing? Ya know what, for a minute there, I did. It was also beautiful and life affirming but hoooooooo boy.

As we mourn Rob Reiner, don’t skip this: he was, pretty much, personally responsible for overturning California’s Prop 8 banning same sex marriage.

Would you like to join my grownup sled gang? Apparently my sense of whimsy and wonder is deeply offensive to my actual child.

The child is busy having a Fisher Price Little People renaissance prompted by my asking if I thought his toddler cousins might like to have them now. He hasn't touched them in actual years. "Who these guys? Yea ummm do you think you could leave me alone now?"

So the full length pocketed cardigan is just the social work equivalent of the lab coat. We've settled this.

Saturday AM house cleaning. The child will not tolerate The Decemberists and I am crying laughing at the quizzical look on his face at these old timey shanties he's certainly heard before but his brain is only now just registering.

My sweet angel child is displaying work in his first art exhibit this week and listen, so are all of the kids in his little art program but he's soooo so stupid excited that my heart actually expanded to make room for his joy. 10/10 recommend letting people you love yap about what they love too.

No-strings-attached, zero-means-testing, no-questions-asked cash payouts have been proven, over and over again, to be the most effective form of charity/aid going.

It gets people in housing, and it saves the state money. We know this. It's fact, not theory.
An Oregon pilot program giving cash to homeless youths sees a staggering reduction in homelessness. The program gave participants $1,000 cash payments each month for two years, and at the end of the project's first phase, 91% of participants reported being in stable housing.

I need you to know that a video of a grown ass adult NKOTB came across my algo and it activated something in deep within me as if I am part of a geriatric millennial boy band crazed sleeper cell. If you have to ask which one you know nothing about me at all.
