This is what Annie saw — and inhaled — while on assignment in Clairton.

Conducting an illegal war against Venezuela.

Deploying the National Guard against our own citizens.

Starting a new nuclear arms race.

And now, asking for another $900 billion for Secretary of War Crimes Pete Hegseth.

Trump and Republicans are out of control.

Most of us cannot comprehend the amount of money the top billionaires have! It’s a disgrace.
Elon Musk’s new pay package could amount to $100B per year ($1 trillion over ten years!).

That's the same as 3.2 million cashiers’ paychecks combined.

It’s more than 1.4 million elementary school teachers’ paychecks.

It’s more than 2 million janitors’ paychecks.

The system is broken.

Why did Trump pardon the former Honduran president?

An unlikely combination of convicted-then-pardoned felon Roger Stone and some Trump-loving tech bros can offer some clues.

I got back to my office after the vote last night and recorded this. There's no way to sugarcoat what happened. And my fear is that Trump gets stronger, not weaker, because of this acquiescence. I'm angry - like you. But I choose to keep fighting.

Tonight’s Senate vote on the federal government shutdown should have been a time for strength.

Instead we saw capitulation and a betrayal of working Americans.

The American people need more from their leaders.

Democrats were overwhelmingly united on their shutdown demands.

Americans understood that Trump and Republicans were to blame.

Voters made it known last Tuesday that they'll elect leaders who stand up to Trump.

Democrats held the cards — and folded for no reason.

Standing up to a tyrant - who is willing to impose pain as leverage to compel loyalty or acquiescence - is hard. You can convince yourself that yielding stops the pain and brings you back to "normal".

But there is no "normal". Submission emboldens the tyrant. The threat grows.
