We made it to the end of both the Star Wars holiday special & the beer tasting bacchanalia. As the philosopher once said, “Hallelujah! Holy shit! Where's the Tylenol?"

Got the tree & the traditional golden monkey topper ready! My brother put his tree up in AZ before he hopped on the plane at midnight to get here this morning. So basically he’s living groundhog’s day, Christmas tree edition. But with Indiana Bones to supervise.

Sigh. Friend & I decided to extend our walk a few minutes to circle around to LaGrande & Windsor to say hi to the cute hobbit house - so-called because of the stone fence & arch details. because every day is a little better when you say hi to the hobbit house. Welp.

Monday. Etc etc.

In other wind-related giant skeleton news, I definitely need to get out more because I just apologized to my neighbor’s skeleton after I stood there & snickered at what the wind has done to what was previously an inflatable turkey sticking out of his chest but has now deflated & slipped.

Crisis averted! Poor Indiana Bones! His steel cable snapped in the 45mph wind gusts & he came close to impaling himself on the fence and/or landing on our car. Our neighbors came to the rescue & all is temporarily well.

I’m very excited. Partial preview, tho some of the quirkier pieces are upstairs yet & I’m lazy today. bonus: painting for the facing wall by Dale Hunt, whose day job is art handler at the Smithsonian portrait gallery, so his own artistic framework is always brilliant.

I’ve been meaning to text you all day because I dreamt you borrowed these shoes from me but said they’d never touch the ground & I was like “it’s ok, they’re shoes” & you said “I have a team of men who carry me around at formal events” & later you sent me pictures of you being carried like this 😂😂😂

Suburban Maryland lost a bit of oomph when Discovery HQ relocated. Area definitely needs more shark flair, although I’m now becoming pretty invested in seeing the shark in question go to the museum in Connecticut.

Good start, if I do say so myself. #IndianaBones&Friends

I made myself laugh. I don't get out much.

You’re going to have such a marvelous weekend! I’m not jealous at all. (I wonder if I have time to just silently swoop through the Omni in dramatic Victorian costumes once a day? I do have errands in the neighborhood🤣)

Following our friends. 😂😂😂 Not our human friends. These friends, nesting pairs of Florida Sandhills cranes.

Let us now revisit this bit of basement magic. The drop ceiling is amazing. This is from the actual listing. I could hear my dad in my head saying “real estate photos aren’t like crime scene photos, you could replace that tile.” Also, there’s shag carpet.

I still don’t know - my theory is there’s an uproar about a different property but the wrong address was disseminated? Maybe trying to save this one on Windsor which is slated but still standing? I started to walk to Howell yesterday but met a corgi named Winston & you know how that goes with me.

Glass doors & no doors also on my hate list, tho the smoked glass bathroom doors at a Pittsburgh Marriott gave the horror scholars a few moments of amusement once. But no one wants to live like this.
November 10, 2025 at 6:51 PM
neighbor racing around with her hair on fire trying to prevent the demolition of 5 E. Howell...somehow. Time travel maybe? I’m not an expert but this photo from March 30 of this year suggests that horse is long gone.

[insert joke about how many barn doors will be in the new interior here: X]

Truly! I did a cartoon-worthy double take when you replied this morning because I’d been thinking about Lyle’s Golden Syrup labels & the wild work Clive Barker did weaving a curse into Liverpool’s many-layered histories of extraction & exploitation of nature & humans. As one does on Sunday morning 😂

Tho ours IS open on Sundays, the hold notices I keep getting are for books I can guarantee I never requested. Last week it was religious kids books. This week… 🙄

Holy cats! We started hem ribbing the same day & I’m only about 2 inches into my first sleeve 🤣

I'm honored to receive the Loretta Lance award from the Mid-Atlantic Popular & American Culture Association. Thanks to my Disability Studies co-chair, @meredithea.bsky.social who accepted in my absence.

Picture is from a prior MAPACA trip to Philly for the (closed) Frankenstein & Dracula exhibit
