This was the first Star Trek thing I saw. My dad took me to the theater to see it, back when I only knew Star Trek (TNG) as "dad's show". Later went on to rent all the other movies (in the weird order of 6-4-5-1-2-3). That, along with Voyager premiering right after is what got me hooked (obsessed?).
Star Trek Generations was released 31 years ago today.

There is a slight disconnect in Sci-Fi vfx design. It has never been easier to build, detail, and design space ships and other miniatures - and yet CGI is almost always chosen and bad CGI really can take you out of a moment...

Also love the way the symbol aligns with lower case x-height (as Design Research Unit and Jock Kinneir and Margaret Calvert intended)
Is this the largest Double Arrow to go on a building in 40 years? It's RS2, it's track gauge high, and I'm mightily proud of it.

In another universe, Robin Williams would have been cast as the King of Hyrule in the Legend of Zelda movie.

Nintendo Today! has shared some "screenshots" of Zelda live-action movie (filming has started, apparently). Looks pretty neat imo, so if movie ends up looking something in that vein, could be pretty decent.

On Saints Row we had a debug npc named Skinballs (lol) that was literally just four spheres wrapped in different shades of skin texture so we could test lighting for different skin tones during development. But teams need to plan for that kind of testing with intentionality, and not enough do.

An arguable ugly Nothing Phone 3 - a focus on AI first for the OS - third party bloatware - privacy risks with Meta services - Lockscreen Ads disgused as a Wallpaper randomiser.

Nothing really does want to destroy its brand loyalty and reputation for clean, light OS without distraction huh...

If this report is true, here's hoping we get a return for the iPhone Plus. And as battery tech improves, we gradually see the non-pro iPhones get thinner without compromising Cameras and Battery Life.

Apple chose names for the colours of the iPhone Air that make you think of colour - but looking at the various unboxings, its basically:
- Neutral White
- Warm White
- Cool White
- Black

Looking at reviews that are coming out, I still believe had Apple released an iPhone 17 Plus, it would have been a pre-order and buy from me, coming from a 16 Plus.

As it stands now, I will stick with my iPhone 16 Plus, until 16 Pro Max phones become affordable refurbished.
September 17, 2025 at 3:26 PM
I wont be buying any of the new iPhones.

I will stick with my 16 Plus.
I may possibly consider getting a refurbished 16 Pro Max in the spring or as a future phone next year.

The Air is too much of a compromise in Price and Battery. The base iPhone is too small a screen for me.
September 12, 2025 at 2:13 PM
It's going to be painful to have to go from the iPhone 16 Plus, to the iPhone 17 because of the smaller screen. The Plus line is going to be missed, especially at the £899 price point.

The Air with one camera and small battery is not appealing to me.

I don't need or want Pro
