Reading friends: what would make you subscribe to a book service (ie one that sends you a book a month or a book a quarter or something)? Keen to hear people's thoughts on these services!

I'm excited to announce this new paper we have in The Lancet Planetary Health.

Is "green growth" happening in high-income countries?

At achieved rates, these countries would take more than 220 years to reduce emissions by 95%. There's nothing "green" about this.

My sister in law and her family are visiting us in Syd for the first time, and I am so exhausted from early pregnancy and from general ADHD dysfunction that I had to ask my mum to come help me clean my house ✌️

Adam Morton says it as it is - the current wave of nuclear boosterism is at its heart an anti-renewable energy campaign.
The push for nuclear energy in Australia is driven by delay and denial, not evidence | Adam Morton
Unsubstantiated claims of nuclear energy’s worth distracts from the urgency to act now on climate crisis

The corruptible nature of men in The Lord of the Rings is something Musk truly took to heart, I see.

I wrote about how the phrase "climate anxiety" doesn't quite cut it. The proper, heavier, more foreboding feeling is dread.

my first for TNR! thanks to the great @mollytaft.bsky.social for edits

Stop Calling It “Climate Anxiety.” It’s Climate Dread.
The phrase “climate dread” better legitimizes the real and tangible threat coming toward us.

Worth pointing out that, while it looks like greenhouse gas emissions decreases under Morrison, that's just because of COVID, which slowed all productivity etc and reduced greenhouse emissions by default.
just a big old shout-out to every single Australian Prime Minister for catastrophically failing to cut greenhouse gas emissions either at all, or sufficiently to align with Paris-aligned budgets

Pretty sure we all know that individual action does v little to impact climate change when colonies like Australia continue to mine fossil fuels without showing any signs of slowing down. It's too late; if our current PM is gonna stand up at a press conference in a Rio Tinto shirt, we're done for.
What you can do about climate change:
- Advocate for policies/candidates that address the problem
- Fly less
- Eat less meat (especially beef) and dairy
- Install a heat pump at home
- Drive an electric vehicle
