House-husband of @marypezzulo.bsky.social‬ (who has more interesting things to say than I do.)
Not quite an academic.
Latin Catholic/internal critic of that tradition.
Congenital Tee-totaler.
Possibly (?) a Skeksis.

Hatred of neighbor is hatred of Christ
Pinned
I support because it is right (secular) & because hatred of neighbor is hatred of Christ (theological convergence w above).
I actually adopted that 2nd slogan *specifically* in reaction to Christian trans hate, although it applies more broadly.

Anything I can do.
What @katelynburns.com said but since I do so much of my work with Christian folx I would love to hear from cis Christians.

Why do you support trans people and what are you willing to do to support us if the government comes for us?
New minimum standard of human decency just dropped.
BASH: We have seen these attacks from the president at other people. It's not new. And I haven't heard you speak out about it until it was directed at you.

MARJORIE TAYLOR GREENE: I think that's fair criticism. And I would like to say, humbly, I'm sorry for taking part in the toxic politics.

You do not, in any way, have to hand it to Maduro, but he's on the money here right up until the last sentence.

“They want to "save" others with weapons. First save yourselves. We know what to do with Venezuela.”

*killing people & saying it's okay because they are, post-mortem, evidencelessly accused of selling recreational drugs
Not that I believe really anything Nuzzi writes, given her record, but the far bigger scandal here is her claim that RFK Jr. was still actively using psychedelics last year, then became HHS secretary in an admin that is killing people for smuggling recreational drugs.

Beyond all this, Monica Lewinski has turned the shitstorm that comes with being a public relations punching bag for the world's most powerful man into a platform from which she has supported and uplifted countless other women.

Monica Lewinski is a hero, and everyone needs to get off her lawn.
Monica Lewinski went through Hell because of Bill Clinton and she was 21 when she started working for him.

Please leave that poor woman be in all the funning. She was destroyed by the public and he kept on keeping on as the president.

The problem is you can’t fund a news organization on digital ads.

The nonprofit model works OK. But how many nonprofit news outlets can the average reader support? Look at how NPR stations are struggling.

And we can’t *all* be funded by the Knight Foundation.

So … ?
The data is pretty clear: paywalls are useless. They put needless barriers between readers and news sources. People either try to find the information available elsewhere for free, or give up and remain uninformed. Either way, the results aren’t great

www.pewresearch.org/short-reads/...
Few Americans pay for news when they encounter paywalls
Among adults who have not paid for news in the past year, the most common reason they cite is that they can find plenty of other news articles for free.

Great backgrounder from the Advocate on how a small group of more or less professional detransitioners and rare stories of regret are being weaponized by Reps to drive policy and drown out local voices. @rikiwilchins.bsky.social
Detransition is rare, but it’s driving anti-trans policy anyway
Political rhetoric doesn’t capture the complexity of detransitioning — or what taking away health care means.

But two years later, they haven't — and MA has collected $5.7B for infrastructure and public education.

Genuinely, the “for want of a nail the kingdom was lost” moment for the US over the last 50 years was the Nixon pardon. The impunity and lack of accountability during the Reagan, Bush I, Bush II, and Trump years all stems from this grave mistake. This will all be swept under the rug too (probably).
