There are only two kinds of society in which armed agents of the government routinely conceal their identities: Lawless failed states, and authoritarian states.

30% of American jobs do not offer health benefits, and 49% of employed workers can’t afford healthcare without going into debt.

Trump’s cuts to healthcare are trading American lives and prosperity for more tax breaks for billionaires.

Law enforcement officers should never cover their faces when making arrests or conceal their identities (unless they are working undercover). They work for us. We have a right to know who they are. These face coverings are frightening & unAmerican, as though they're ashamed of what they're doing.

If we stop calling these “grants” and start calling them “contracts,” it’s clearer to people why this is such an abuse of power. This wasn’t a bunch of gifts. This was a bunch of binding contracts between researchers and the US govt for specific agreed upon projects.
Research into quantum mechanics, volcanic eruptions and all sorts of other studies already underway canceled for no reason - a waste of resources, loss of innovation and undercutting expertise across multiple fields.
NEW: The National Science Foundation last week terminated 196 grants to Harvard amid the university's feud with Trump.

you know it’s a load-bearing component of the social safety net but I feel like I’m still learning HOW load-bearing. I didn’t realize until Trump started plotting to cut it that it’s like …. literally the only way we have nursing homes
What people don't seem to understand is that even if *they* are not using Medicaid, a large share of their providers' patient population does.

That means that their healthcare providers may be unable to stay solvent and in practice when Medicaid is cut.

We all lose when Medicaid is cut.
