🚨New publication alert!

We just published a brief on what happens to parenting students' chances of success in college when they are threatened with eviction. The results are devastating. I have never cried when writing up research before. I did this time.

Ousted from Opportunity: Eviction's Adverse Impact on Parenting College Students
New America partnered with the Eviction Lab to understand how eviction affects parents who are attending college while caring for children—and found it likely leads to severe negative consequences.

It’s 45 degrees today in DC, but my body thinks it’s summer after the past few weeks.

Yes, and if the commercials I keep seeing lately are anything to go by, the gambling companies are working really hard to get more women enmeshed
Serious question: is it mostly men who do this? Because I can't imagine women lighting money on fire this way.

An observation I've been thinking about:

Around 2020, we were told that US political & corporate elites had been gripped by "wokeness" & thus become obsessed with climate change & diversity. This wokeness was alleged to be so severe & monomaniacal that it threatened the entire culture & economy.

While subsidizing families already wealthy enough to send their kids to private schools anyway.

Good thread on vouchers.
Type 3 ☝️is what the voucher lobby promises all families.

1 and 2 is what most families get. And it’s why the results have been so piss poor in the few studies that have been able to audit student performance.

Just whatever you do, don’t read the methodology

Immigrants are twice as likely to start businesses as native born Americans.

So another piece of economic drag
They have made clear that it was never just about illegal immigration: they hate all immigrants.
The Small Business Administration said in a policy note that green card holders won't be allowed to apply for SBA loans, effective March 1.

I really love how its just accepted that most car dealers are complete scam operations.

Got a screw in a tire, took it in this morning.

Call this afternoon: "the technician is recommending new tires"

On a car with 16,000 miles on it that we lease from your dealership?

How many real intel priorities are being ignored while the DNI cosplays as chief witchfinder?
Breaking Reuters:

A team working for Tulsi Gabbard last spring led an investigation into Puerto Rico's voting machines.

The goal was to work with the FBI to investigate claims that Venezuela had hacked voting machines in Puerto Rico.

The probe did not produce any clear evidence of interference.

It turns out that uncertainty and policy making by social media posts don’t lead to booking manufacturing investments.
Trump claims that factories are being constructed across America, but in reality, spending on manufacturing-related construction has declined during his administration.

VW isn’t taking a bath here, they will still make money.

That means they could have done this all along, but didn’t until forced.
