Friendly reminder that if you buy a book on Kindle, you're only paying for the rights to read, not own. If a book truly gets banned, it will be taken away from digital platforms like Kindle, nook, etc. Consider getting physical copies of banned (or other) books!

The BBC is the biggest supporter of Israel in the UK, it broadcasts their lies non-stop, of course the overwhelmingly peaceful Palestine marches should be able to protest outside.

Why not take an axe to Britain's tax dodging billionaires.

Who make a profit of £150bn a year, but who only pay 11% tax.

While the average person pays 37%, and the highest 47%.

Literally crying hearing how French women applaud Gisele Pelicot every day as she walks out of court. #r4today

Everywhere around the world women watch & applaud her bravery too. She stood up for all of us.

Because the shame has to switch sides.

Israel killed the last remaining orthopedic surgeon in Northern Gaza.

Dr. Saeed Joudeh was shot in the head by IDF.

He was not a combatant. He was a doctor devoted to saving lives.

Why is the government not capable wiping the floor with Nigel Farage every single day like this? Alastair Campbell effortlessly destroys him over his Brexit legacy which by almost every economic and financial measure has been disastrous for the country

Brexit referendum took place because too much was made of the opinions of bigots. It is the failure of consecutive governments who haven’t called out on bigotry and racism. Instead they all have been feeding into the narrative of boats and immigration to get votes.

It’s driving me insane how neither politicians nor the media seem able to speak honestly about where the immigration numbers are at NOW.

A *very* significant drop is already baked in.

We’re talking net numbers halving & the discourse is all still “omg record highs how do we bring them down?” 😱
Starmer will (very) significantly exceed public expectations on overall numbers, whether or not has any policies

50% expect immig will be higher next year
26% expect about same
12% expect lower next year

12% are right. Net migration to halve by Spring 2025 stats. (It already has! See visa data)

Gregg Wallace says the complains about him come from middle class women of a certain age. I wonder if he's thought that women of a certain age complain about inappropriate men because they're not afraid of men of a certain age any more.

To be clear, most asylum seekers go to other European countries.

But most of those who come to the uk do so because of familiarity with our language, or culture, or because they know people here.

Opting out of our share is not an available option.
Exactly, & that's the reason most asylum seekers come here instead of staying in Europe. *They speak English*, & often have friends or family here already.
Many who arrive legally on family reunification visas from India etc joining relatives who have studied here & stayed legally have to learn.
A man describes in perfect English how he escaped torture by the Taliban.

He explains why he wants to come to the UK “because I speak English”. It’s quite simple.

He believes neither France nor Germany will help him. He knows the risk of death.
He needs a safe, regulated route. #r4today

There's lots of tat shops in Bridlington, but possibly the worst tat I've ever seen is this Cliff Richard salt and pepper pot set. Truly awful.

I think that as we move away from it gradually it's quite easy to forget or underplay the degree of catastrophic incompetence and failure of the last government.

One example is shown here in the data showing surging refugee homelessness & rough sleeping. www.bigissue.com/news/social-...
