We ran a randomized controlled trial to see how much AI coding tools speed up experienced open-source developers.

The results surprised us: Developers thought they were 20% faster with AI tools, but they were actually 19% slower when they had access to AI than when they didn't.

Whenever I talk about self-organizing or self-managing teams, some managers inevitably come out of the woodwork and lecture me about how essential team-level management is. (It's never the team members, just the managers 😄.) That's usually accompanied by a lot of LOL-ing, a lot of "you're

There's a lot of talk about 'vibe coding' at the moment. Andrej Karpathy's tweet that introduced the term is often mentioned. I suspect, however, that many people who are promoting the idea in the context of commercial product development may not have read the whole tweet.

The whole point of a kanban board is that it manages a pull system. When you ship something, you pull the next thing to work on from upstream. If you finish a story, you pull a new one from the customer.
