The likelihood of getting long covid increases w/ each infection, so that number (10-30%) goes up every time you get covid. And again, you don’t know you have covid if you don’t test (and test correctly). Also, 40-60% of Covid cases are asymptomatic so you’re likely getting infected w/o knowing it.

It’s not 10%-30% of severe infections, it’s 10%-30% of ALL infections, and this study (and many others) state that 10% is likely a significant undercount. Most cases of long covid are after mild infections. So your risk of getting covid is high and your risk of getting long covid is significant.

You’re not worried about it because you haven’t read the thousands of scientific studies showing how dangerous it is.

Infections aren’t rare. Most people are getting infected 1-2 times per year, at least. And if you aren’t testing (and testing correctly) you won’t know if you have it.

Again, how can you call a virus mild when it does all the things I noted? Death isn’t the only negative outcome from Covid.

How can you classify a virus “mild” when it causes organ and immune system damage similar to that of HIV? When long COVID is now the most common chronic illness in children (more than diabetes or asthma)? When 10-30% of infections lead to long COVID & half of those people don’t recover in 18 months?

I just think that if you are going to state definitively that something is not a risk, then you should be able to readily cite at least ONE study that wasn't later retracted as false. or you should have to read ten of the newest papers on how covid fucks you up. vibes will not save you!!

Yeah so the outbreaks are worse than they ever were in 2020

Stuff like this reads like "I have no one who trusts me enough to be open about how Long Covid has devastated their life"

Leftists not masking aren’t serious. It betrays there is no strategy towards liberation. It’s short sighted. Can’t do the hard work to resist. Can’t do mutual aid. It’s just vibes, aesthetics, and social capital positioning. Just a quest for power without a plan.

If you don't find our present dire enough to warrant masking, then where is your bar?

Where was it in 2020? 2021? ...2022? .....2023?

When did it shift, & why?

What did you read/who told you something that moved the needle? Does it hold up to scientific or your own moral scrutiny, considering?

Even if someone doesn’t end up in the hospital because they got your sick, they might be forced to miss work when they can’t afford it.

My attitude on this is basically: You don’t know and you’re not following up with everyone you encounter. So suffer the minor inconvenience for the greater good.

I’d love to read some studies contradicting the vast body of literature we have that shows that covid is in fact not mild and causes long term organ and immune system damage regardless of health or vaccination status. Can you send me some links?
