Infections aren’t rare. Most people are getting infected 1-2 times per year, at least. And if you aren’t testing (and testing correctly) you won’t know if you have it.

My attitude on this is basically: You don’t know and you’re not following up with everyone you encounter. So suffer the minor inconvenience for the greater good.
