Hi hi! I’m Maggie, a 2nd year PhD candidate at the University of Rhode Island’s Graduate School of Oceanography. I study phytoplankton physiological responses to stressors using coarse-grained models. I don’t normally go on research cruises, but when I do, I totally don’t get seasick!

🚨 NCA5 is now LIVE! 🚨

They took it down, but we've brought it back at: nca5.climate.us

Bookmark. 👏 this. 👏 page. 👏

This is just our first step in restoring trusted science information that Americans need to understand what's happening with the climate.

Last week, we submitted testimony to the Attorney General about potential regulation of AI algorithms in decision making.

The short answer? Algorithms making discriminatory decisions is a very real problem.

Excited to share our new paper on how empirical research can better support mechanistic models—through realistic, interdisciplinary data and by embracing complex, individual-level mechanisms. Born from a @ecologicalsociety.bsky.social symposium!

Hassett has now taken to forecasting what going to happen last week, and he’s still wrong.
STEPHANOPOULOS: When will we see an actual trade agreement? Will we see any this week?

HASSETT: I expected we were probably going to see one perhaps as early as last week

In the U.S., we’re told to love our jobs, and to find meaning in them, as if work were a family, or a religion. On May Day, revisit Jill Lepore on how the unravelling of the labor movement ushered in a new era of work as life.
What’s Wrong with the Way We Work
Americans are told to give their all—time, labor, and passion—to their jobs. But do their jobs give enough back?
