Good news from Edinburgh.

The visitor levy is "expected to raise up to £50m a year to tackle the heavy impact of mass tourism on the city, by investing in new social housing, public parks, tourism facilities and arts and cultural events."
Edinburgh to introduce tourist tax for overnight stays
Stays from July next year will be subject to 5% visitor levy in first mandatory city-wide scheme in UK

The Spektrix Snowmen are finally here again, meaning our Box Office has no excuse not to have the Christmas tunes on the go!

These remastered and colourised visions of days gone by are always wild, I love them. A window through time. Also: something wonderful in seeing what hasn't changed in 90 years too. youtu.be/L-nITiS8IqQ?...

Did anyone here any outcome of this mysterious invitation? Or are we just curtain-twitching into the void?
Anyone got any intel on this from today's Edinburgh Minute newsletter? Slightly worried it could be sinister... or ridiculously scammy. Not many clues other than one piece of paper with a Bruntsfield address.

Doctor Who day, and I’m thinking about my friend Keith Carter who once saw Tom Baker emerging from a phone box in Edinburgh and shouted “Been anywhere nice, Tom?” and got a resounding “fuck off!”

If a day comes where the discovery of snowfall through the night brings any frustration about the day being harder because of it, just shoot me.

But for now, on this morning: I cannot wait for Jenny to wake up just so I can tell her IT'S SNOWING IT'S SNOWING!

Successful evening: been out drinking with work pals resulting neither in regrettable tweets (yes, tweets) or memes to the work WhatsApps. Can't help but take a picture of the pretty castle though oooooh

Here's one you can have for free: microwaveable rice packets that actually fit, free-standing, into an average microwave. Game-changing design I tell you.

PJ Harvey's theme tune for Bad Sisters is beautifully dark whimsy, unskippable every time. For a show that really didn't need a second season, it illicits a very warm welcome to every episode.

Snow is falling in London (son sent us a video!) so thought you might like a reminder that here in Scotland we name the gritting machines and there’s a site that tracks where they all are!
My favs are Gritty Gritty Bang Bang and Spready Mercury ☃️😂

I make wee holiday movies, never in much of a hurry. I give it some time, so that the edit feels a bit more of discovery for myself (yeah, that and I'm lazy). Here's the latest, a gorgeous wee trip to Lisbon last year:

I'm putting together a GoPro tutorial vid with focus on personal holiday movie/home-video purpose.

Most YouTube guides suggest 60fps standard for flexibility. Only good idea if for sport coverage. GoPros are wonderful option for home movies; the going advice leaved your output with judders.

I despair for the absolute shit show our public transport presents us. Hopes to catch up with pals one city over dashed by the dismal weekend provision Scotrail has to offer (and what IS available between Edinburgh and Perth requires a interchange detour to Stirling (!)

Turns out: Roald Dahl's Revolting Recipes is one of the more formative reads of my childhood.

This morning, I'm inventing Pumpkin pancakes.

Next batch will be better, I'll take more care to strain the pumpkin... They're a bit more like Pumpkin Naan.

Legit think I have a lot of Empire biscuits to thank for the affection my fiancée affords me between Stardew Valley sessions.
As much as people like to clown on Stardew Valley’s romance system, I know for a fact that if a guy gave me my favorite food item, everyday for a year, I’d be considering marriage too

Yeah, this spot will do (not as comfy as Mastodon but a better window view). As good as anywhere to leave my valuable opinions and regrettable thoughts.
