Yeesh I hate being repetitive, and yet...

It's time once again to remind my fellow Americans that there is no mechanism whereby state run elections can be suspended or canceled by the federal government. None. So don't go along with any garbage you hear to that effect. Laugh, and get ready to vote.

Please support Democracy Docket, these efforts can’t be cheap
How busy is the fight for free and fair elections in court?

My law firm is currently litigating 65 voting and election cases. 12 of these relate to redistricting. We have four cases pending in the U.S Supreme Court -- including one I am arguing this Dec.

I agree
My political hot take is that US voters should be able to recall elected representatives via petition - at any time.
No more hiding behind election terms.

I love it! Thank you to our service members, all who have served our country with courage and dignity. Special shout out to my son who is a Marine. God bless you all
In an unforgettable Veterans Day moment, former President Barack Obama surprised dozens of Korean and Vietnam War veterans as their Honor Flight landed in Washington, D.C. The veterans, fresh off their flight from Madison, Wisconsin, were greeted by President Obama himself.

Exactly!
This deal to reopen the government is fucking disgraceful.

Tens of millions will lose their healthcare. Trump will be emboldened.

This is exactly what’s wrong with Democratic Party leadership and why we need more people in Congress who will actually hold the line.

Yes we can, we are already seeing what we can do for each other. Hold that line
STAND FIRM. If Democrats back down now, there will never be another chance to hold the line. It’s tough, but we can take care of each other.

Tomorrow the Supreme Court will hear arguments in the most important redistricting and voting rights case of the term. Democracy Docket isn't just covering it for the day. It has been covering this case for years.

Support its vital work to help keep you informed. hubs.ly/Q03M8rql0

Happy Indigenous People Day!

Did you know that Indigenous women go missing and are murdered ten times more than average? They don’t even get a quarter of the attention that a white woman going missing would get. Please keep these women in your mind. Don’t forget them

This is the ultimate in domestic violence against women and children. Release the files, prove you’re not in them.
Speaking of October, it’s the perfect time to talk about the Epstein files. They contain the names of America’s most powerful, richest, and morally vile men. I am now certain that speaker Johnson is in there because why else would he make such an ass of himself to cover up the truth
October 12, 2025 at 4:56 PM
Yes, what’s happening is brutality and cruelty and against everything America stands for
Reporters: stop using the deferential term "detaining" when talking about ICE goons' abduction of innocent people from US streets. You proper term would indeed by "abduction", but if you want to pretend neutrality you could use "capture", which at least says nothing about the captors' motives.

Not forgotten
Admin has played its hand so poorly from the day in march they deported him contrary to orders to today that he actually may see freedom (US promised that would never happen) at least temporarily.

Yay for California
Today, I signed a series of bills that close gaps in maternal and prenatal care, improve health outcomes and access to child care resources, and protect vulnerable women.

Women in California deserve the services and resources they need to live full, self-determined lives.

Few actors exemplify the delightful wildness and mess that was the hallmark of Meisner technique better than Diane Keaton. What an incredible actor and career. impossible to imagine Reds, Godfather II, or Annie Hall, three of the best American films of the new Hollywood era, without her. RIP!

As we head into a new week, please remember that ego and status are imposters. What truly matters is kindness and empathy: towards ourselves and to all things. Our connection to nature binds us and through that bond none of us is alone as we face life’s challenges. May your week be peaceful. ☺️ #life
