I still don't understand why economists had expected a gain of jobs; do they pay any attention to anything outside of the executive suites?

Today, I am roasting a turkey. I am in no rush, there will be no company, or sides (other than Thursdays leftovers), just the bird (and onions and potatoes in the roasting pan). It's the only way I can get enough turkey to make all the favorite leftover dishes!

I feel both betrayed and complicit with the NYT. Betrayed, because the paper betrayed the country and destroyed any chance of the 2016 election being fair. And complicit because I believed in that goddamn newspaper for far too long.

Observations on my quarterly visit to Costco: There were no happy faces with the exception of some of the children present. The elderly (which actually includes me these days) all looked somewhere between disgruntled and pissed off. Younger people looked sad and resigned.
