Hidden Food Tours was featured on Radio 4’s The Food Programme last Friday. It was great hosting Sheila Dillon (the doyenne of UK food journalists) on our #MeltonMowbray tour, and brilliant that she got what we do. Have a listen & come see for yourselves! www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/...

Robbie Gibb was appointed to the BBC Board by Boris Johnson, was an editorial advisor for GB News, and worked as Theresa May's Director of Comms.

He is not impartial or neutral. The government should remove him from the Board immediately to protect the BBC's independence.

I do not understand the Labour government's reticence over defending the BBC and social media regulation. Their long-term survival basically depends on it. Their cowardice in the face of it may be the single thing they are most remembered for.

Michael Prescott's report makes vital points about the importance of being accurate, and also how difficult that is. For instance, he describes himself as having been Political Editor of the Sunday Times for 10 years, which is not what the Guardian reported when he left the job.

I think there's been a bit too much focus and pandering to these people now. 'legitimate concerns' 'silent majority' 'both sides' etc. Fuck 'em. Never known such a bunch of absolute fucking arseholes playing the victim and demanding everyone dances to their fucking tune. Fight fire with fire.

This thread. All this thread. As an ex-staffer, who made progs for all BBC Radio services for over 20 years, this is nail on head stuff.
"Change will only come if both the BBC board and the politicians that ultimately appoint that board realise that the corporation’s problems in News are fundamentally about money and competence" - think that's bang on from @stephenkb.bsky.social
To fix the BBC, focus on competence and cash
Corporation fails to learn from criticism, while politicians have consciously reduced its scope for quality journalism

Today was one of the mornings where, unable to face the self evisceration of the BBC news channels, I retreated to the safety of @fip.fr. These days seem to be increasing...
I often think, as I brace myself to switch on the news each morning, that some of the problem is the world going to hell, but some of the problem is the editorial choice over what we're supposed to be angry about today.

This is the most abysmal, pathetic thing. The BBC head resigning because the corporation is not supine *enough* to the far-right.

I can’t stop thinking about how this whole decadent regime is similar to the French monarchy before the 1789 Revolution. While people are lining up for food, the tyrant organizes exuberant parties at his Mar-o-Lago residence. Apparently God bless America but not all Americans.
