honestly would have thought that major revisions get accepted more often than not, but the Ergo statistics page seems to be down so I can't check

as a mild insider, I think it's unfortunate, but also Ergo does have some costs that limit the number of papers we can publish

think Kat Z nailed what both you and propter are talking about.
maybe, a guy can look at her and think "she looks like she thinks I'm smart"

so, something like "is purchasing power higher today than it was 30 years ago?" vs. "is purchasing power as much higher today than it could/should be?"?
that might be the right question--OTOH I think that point is more nuanced than the way the fridge post comes across

there's another argument about housing costs mixed in, but posting a graph that says that median real household income has gone up seems pretty different from Fox News implying that you can't *really* be poor if you own a fridge

idk, reading back through the original thread (and what it was quoting, and it, and...), it seems like Will said there hadn't been a generational stagnation of purchasing power, and posted a 30-year (~1 generation) graph

What drives me absolutely insane about this debate is how claims like “there has been a generational stagnation of purchasing power” have taken on the tenor of religious faith among progressives, and seemingly cannot be disproven with any evidence, no matter how overwhelming. It simply isn’t true!

my read of this is that his post is his read of the same reporters' posts we're all reading, it doesn't look like the TPM DC staff has reported anything. doesn't move the needle much (from "now that a bunch of non-Axios sources are reporting something, they're probably cutting a deal")

CNN is now reporting something, which is more of an indication. (Raju tweeted sthg like "unclear if this gets 60 votes but it's moving in that direction")
