When serving eggs to your teenage son it’s important to always sing the relevant verse from Gaston’s song.

@chuckwendig.bsky.social Just had to write a third book in the Wanderers series eh
According to CDC's wastewater program, almost all wastewater sample sites in California, from San Diego in the south to Redding in the north, have tested positive for H5 bird flu.

@peripateticmeg.bsky.social @mortuaryreport.bsky.social hiya! My 15 year old is in the midst of his first jewelry-making class and is showing some real talent, and enjoying it a lot. It’s always been hard to get him to express an aspiration beyond baseball, so this is exciting. I thought of you two!

Certain movie lines find their way into my brain and then pop back out, consistently, and odd times.

One such line is “You’re a handsome devil. What’s your name?” (Grosse Pointe Blank, getting a thawed turkey out of the fridge).

One that I wish would do it: “Clever girl…” (Jurassic Park).

Proposal: we reboot Gilmore Girls, in the same universe as The Bear. Luke’s Diner and the Independence Inn are combined (the diner is actually the Inn’s restaurant), and a discouraged Carmy is hired on as chef by Lorelei in the first episode.

It’s really too bad that your handle has to be more than 2 characters. We’ll never meet @mr.bsky.social

There are normal seven year olds, and then there’s my seven year old, singing The Puppy Song by Harry Nillson. At least that’s what he tells me it’s called. I don’t know.

One of my favorite things to post are the funny quirks of my kiddos. In this case it’s his superior knowledge of pop music.

If you think about it, trees are the original 3D printers.

I love this. Books should have "end credits", dedications, and something more than a thanks page.
Gollancz does this, and I think it's a great idea. Here's the credits page from my book About Writing:

Can I just go one freaking day without seeing Elon Musk’s name? And yes, I know I just made YOU see his name too. But be honest, this isn’t the first time today, is it?

Readwise has a new newsletter feature where they send their most highlighted passages this week, or something. I try very hard to avoid these things, like the “popular highlights” in Kindle books. Don’t tell me what to think!

Well, I got myself a seat in the mayor’s office at my Panera this morning. A 4-topper in the corner, with it’s own outlet, a wall to my back, and a full view of the dining area. I almost feel guilty.

My god I wish someone would introduce our school district to the idea of plain text newsletters, or lightly HTML-formatted. Enough PDFs!

Well, it’s 4:30 in the morning and I dropped the boy off at the airport 30 minutes ago. Like his first day of preschool, and his first day of kindergarten, he marched off with a smile and without looking back (after a smooch). I guess we’re doing something right :)

My little firstborn baby boy is going to be home from school in a few minutes, and we’re going to go over his packing list for his school trip to DC.

He’s tried to avoid taking his Spidey suit but we snuck it in his bag anyway.

I live in the suburbs, in an established town going through a lot of redevelopment. In the middle of town, there is a large stretch of smaller, older buildings, light industrial, and strip malls. The city has been slowly buying these up, demolishing the buildings and selling the land to developers.

I always want to end my new social media profiles with “And I shall have my vengeance, in this life or the next.”

What’s new, BlueSky? Or, is it Bluesky? I just got here, and my social media muscles are a little atrophied. Hi!
