I want to give an earnest shoutout to my assemblymember, @tonysimone.bsky.social , who was poised, respectful, and polite in supporting more housing even as a group of anti-housing advocates tried to disrupt him constantly
I’m currently at a town hall with elected officials where NIMBYs keep disrupting it every 5 minutes, and I’m witnessing negative polarization in action as normies get fed up with the NIMBYs and clap for speakers supporting more housing
nothing has radicalized me into YIMBYism like going to a local town hall and seeing how unhinged and rude NIMBYs are constantly

Congestion pricing was developed as a crucial solution to multiple crises in our city, in the time since the cameras went live it has more than achieved its mission. Our subway is crumbling. Congestion pricing has unlocked $15 billion to fix it. (1/3)

I will always fight to make it easier for people to be involved in our govt & its decision making processes. Over the pandemic we learned the value of virtual meetings. My bill would make it easier for the public to participate.

Kudos to @reinventalbany.bsky.social for making the case for open meetings law reform yesterday.

@tonysimone.bsky.social’s bill, A10266, would make it easier for NYers to testify remotely & for non-elected officials to participate in public meetings remotely. spectrumlocalnews.com/nys/central-...
Civic groups want permanent video conferencing law for New York lawmakers
The bill would mandate hybrid public meetings at the state and local level and loosen in person requirements for non elected bodies.

It was great to rally today with advocates in support of the Broadway open street pilot (35th to 36th St)! We're pushing for a Christmas gift for midtown, to make this program permanent and continue transforming NYC's streets! 🎅🏻 #OpenStreets #NYC (1/3)
