This is as good a place for an open call for news accounts to follow. I already follow the MFP but I do need something to finally cut the chord. Essentially, CNN if it didn’t suck & as few opinion pieces as possible is what I’m looking for here.
I'm not sure how much longer our Mississippi Free Press account will post to X, but for now it makes a good case study—and a good case for why other newsrooms shouldn't fear moving to BlueSky.

Look at the difference in engagement for identical posts with the same links.

Unfortunately, Bluesky is unavailable in Mississippi right now, due to a new state law that requires age verification for all users.

While intended for child safety, we think this law poses broader challenges & creates significant barriers that limit free speech & harm smaller platforms like ours.

Well, shit. Good job, @wtva9news.bsky.social. You've given folks one less reason to watch your news broadcast.

You know, another goddamn billionaire fluffing the walking example of why nepotism in political journalism is a horrible thing aside, haven’t we learned over the past decade that social media isn’t worth shit when it comes to “political debate”?
The lack of diversity of thought here is really hurting usage.

Oh, for cryin' out loud. This jackass made bail. The San Antonio cops say they see "no evidence" of a hate crime. No one's disputing any claims made about this butthole terrorizing Joss & his husband.

Oh, for cryin’ out loud. This is the worst administration for whining about how everyone isn’t kissing their ass constantly. What a pitiful bunch of losers whose only win in life is that their dad didn’t pull out that one time. Fucking hell, man.

Thirty-two years. That means Confederate Heritage Month has existed eight times longer than the actual Confederacy. This is my heritage as a Mississippian, a entity that produced no art, no science, no philosophy, & a government doomed to failure? That's what this dick thinks we should celebrate?
NEW: Mississippi Gov. Tate Reeves has declared April 2025 as Confederate Heritage Month.

He did so at the behest of the Sons of Confederate Veterans, a neo-Confederate organization that espouses “Lost Cause” ideology, which whitewashes the role of slavery in the Civil War. 🧵

Well, he wasn't a pure-blood Aryan, so of course Miller thinks he was sent to the right place. Just wait until his solution for the "Jewish problem."
And, yes, I'm aware of his heritage but I know it'd matter as much as Clarence Thomas' marriage if Loving comes before the Supreme Court again, okay?
Stephen Miller claims on Fox News that returning the Maryland father who was wrongly deported to El Salvador would constitute a "kidnapping" and "invasion of El Salvador's sovereignty."

"He was not mistakenly sent to El Salvador," Miller lies. "This was the right person sent to the right place."

I wonder if any of them actually like each other personally. Throw Musk & Vance in there, & I bet this bunch hates each other worse than they'd hate an immigrant trans athlete. I read something about the first administration that it was a viper pit, & these clowns are much worse human beings.

Why? Are there not other issues more pressing to the American voter than Chinese cars? Surely there is, come now.
Today I introduced my first bill in the U.S. Senate, and its to ban Chinese vehicles in the U.S. market.

I find it difficult to find much concern for the tears of the world’s richest man, boo-hooing because people don’t like him. Perhaps if he gave me $20 million I could find the time to give a shit.
Musk: I mean, have you Tim Walz, who is a huge jerk, running on stage with the Tesla stock price.. What an evil thing to do. What a creep, what a jerk. Like who derives joy from that?

In 1862, a Union soldier found cigars wrapped in a piece of paper in a field of clover. The paper was a copy of Confederate Gen. Lee's invasion orders. The Southern sloppiness helped the Union stop Lee at Antietam.
It's unknown who lost the orders in the field, or if he was related to Pete Hegseth.

I've figured out who Musk reminds me of & this is a pretty deep cut: Freddie Garrity of Freddie & The Dreamers. However, he's nowhere near as cool as the late singer nor does Musk have Garrity's raw rock & roll sexual charisma.

Everyone reading the below & wondering how he could be married to a not-white woman or why she’d be married to him needs to remember something important. People who think they’re born to rule rarely think the rules apply to them because they often don’t until they do like a goddamn sledgehammer.
